The Life River

I was strolling along the Life River while meditating upon its charming scene. I came closer to take some sips of its water. All of a sudden, the river said: "Please don't drink my water!"
Me: Why not?
River: Don't you see how I'm suffering.
Me (Surprisingly): Suffering! In what sense?
River: Don’t you see how you treat me!
Me: What do you mean by 'you'?
River: 'The Human Beings'. You throw all the refuses into my water, so it gets contaminated and undrinkable.
Me: We're exerting efforts to protect you from pollutants.
River: How?
Me: We organize conferences and campaigns and impose laws and regulations to protect you from this pollution.
River: Excuse me! Despite all these efforts, I'm still ill.
Me: The procedures of rescuing you are not something that can be carried out within few days. That would take years.
River: You've been attempting to find remedies for me for years and years and the results are somehow ineffective.
Me: You're against us for the sake of making us feel guilty. Do you do this on purpose? Don't you?
River: The spirit inciting you to protect me or any of my brothers and sisters in nature like air, forests, animals, should come from inside you.
Me: Do you accuse us of being irresponsible?!
River: I can't say that you're irresponsible, but you need to reconsider your thoughts, the life inside you and your surroundings.
Me: Can't you appreciate our efforts on any level?
River: There are evidences everywhere in the world that show our sufferance.
Me: But our generations'll continue what we've started in our journey to protect you and your siblings. Now it's time to leave. See you soon with more serious accomplishments!
